However, Office isn't free! The Office Suite is separate, and legally needs to be bought in addition to the Windows operating system. Another misconception of Microsoft Office is once you purchase it; you can install it on as may computers as you want. This is not true, when you do purchase an Office suite the licensing on the box will indicate how many PCï¿½s it can be installed on (Typically only 1).
But, that said, you donï¿½t always have to pay full price. Many universities, colleges, and other educational institutions offer the Office Suite to their students at a reduced price. Employers will also often subsidize productivity software, including Office, for employees who work remotely.
Microsoft has recently released the Surface 2, a tablet that runs Windows 8. To sweeten the deal, and really push the productivity aspect of their device, they have bundled it with the Home and Student version of Office RT. Now more than ever, people can take their work anywhere.
